Make black history a part of your year not just February. Black lives should matter all the time. Not only in February and not only when something bad happens.
We should talk to our children of all ages. The youngest children don’t need gruesome details they don’t understand but at an early age should know about the injustice in this world so they can grow up and be part of a better world. Help change the world for black children that have no choice but to grow up feeling scared for their lives. Recognize color as normal. Have books and shows available in their lives showing them all colors.
There are already resources put together that I found to be wonderful so I will share them here.
Multicultural and Social Justice Books is a website “whose mission is to provide teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write and change the world”.
Anti-Racist Resource Guide has many different resources for you to begin and/or continue your journey to understand and fight against racism.
If you are in the Sarasota/Bradenton area here is list of Local Black Owned Business to support.
